John Rosis works in several painting mediums, including large-scale paintings on canvas, small-scale reverse painting on glass and collage on paper. In all his work, the image comes about as a result of the process. The subject matter of his work is line, form, texture, and color as derived from nature. Preferring a direct, hands-on process with simple shapes to create complex relationships, his approach and materials change as his visual needs evolve: “I see my role as that of a collaborator with the materials, the process, and the medium. I feel my work is successful when the process and materials come together to create new images.”
